What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness and focused attention, much like meditation and reflects a deep state of calmness and relaxation where the body is very comfortable, and the mind is more aware and alert than your normal state of awareness. The majority of our life programming and behavior is deeply rooted in the subconscious mind which is 88% of our brain and the majority of our brain. When you desire change very badly, but cannot seem to get it together or move forward, it's called being stuck-in-a-rut. Something is stuck in the subconscious mind that needs to be changed, let go of, or healed. The subconscious mind contains all the negative and positive programming you've accumulated over your lifetime. When we work with the subconscious mind, the negative programming gets erased and reworked into something transformative and positive, and we reinforce the positive associations and neuropathways that already exist deep within the subconscious mind. When you feel stuck-in-a-rut and unable to change, we work directly with your subconscious mind using the power of hypnosis to effect positive change. It's about activating the mind-body connection and planting a seed to blossom in the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is created through a deep state of relaxation, an in-between sleep and waking state. When in hypnosis, you are experiencing a state of deeply relaxed yet focused attention. During a session of hypnotherapy, Panney carefully guides you into a state where the critical mind (which is the gatekeeper to the subconscious mind) is temporarily suspended so that the subconscious mind is accessed and suggestible for the purpose of creating positive change at asubconscious level. Everyone goes into a natural state of hypnosis every day. Each night before you fall asleep and every morning as you awaken, you pass through a state of consciousness that can be called an alpha or theta brain wave state, a meditative state, or the state of hypnosis. This is the natural state experienced daily by all people. When you sleep, you use your subconscious mind to dream and process the day's events and get rid of the parts of you that hold you back or no longer serves you. This area of the mind is always readily available to children under the age of 8. As young open-minded, impressionable kids we were influenced by well-intentioned parents, teachers, media, religious leaders, and peers. It is that environment that has largely programmed our minds to tell us who we are, how the world works, and who we are in the world. Since childhood we have created a mental filter called the critical mind to decipher what will be taken in as “true” and therefore “acceptable” new information. Hypnotherapy allows for the mind to take in new information that might otherwise be blocked by the critical mind.

How Does It Feel Like?
You are always in complete control of your surroundings when you are in hypnosis. You have access to your will-power and can control it and improve it with the power of hypnosis. Hypnosis feels like being in deep meditation or sitting in a warm bath and feeling deeply relaxed. You're fully aware of your surroundings, you are in control of your body, and are fully aware of your senses and can also hear your thoughts. But the best part of it is that your subconscious mind can still hear what the hypnotherapist is saying even though you are completely relaxed.
Physical shifts are a direct result of your completely relaxed state. Some people experience the sensation of their limbs becoming heavier, while others report the exact opposite, and describe a feeling of weightlessness. Others still identify no particular change in their limb sensation. The most common description of hypnosis and how it feels like is that your body goes to sleep while your mind remains awake. You may look as though you’re asleep to an outside observer, because you’re so completely relaxed, and focused on your therapy, that you won’t even react or sense them in the room. But unlike a sleeping person, you will not be moving around or twitching around.
Rapid eye movement occurs in some cases, but not always. Everyone's experience is clearly different because there are countless variables at play. We all have our own unique make-up, and theoretically, we are using hypnosis to address a unique, focused problem or issue, so no two therapy sessions will ever be exactly the same.
The best thing to do when trying hypnosis for the first time is to have an open mind; don’t try too hard and don't consciously try to guide or direct, or force your thoughts. Just relax and let yourself go with the flow. You can’t possibly do it wrong. You will always do it right. And you will inevitably experience some level of altered awareness. The varying degrees are related to so many factors, including your suggestibility which is how you hear and process words internally. Most people naturally go into hypnotic states several times per day. When you are deeply engrossed in a book or a film, you are experiencing a hypnotic trance. Many people slip into a hypnotic trance when driving. They can drive for many miles without consciously thinking, without even realising that they are driving or may even miss their exit. You drivers out there will know what I am talking about. If any emergency occurs when driving in this state, you can immediately snap out of it and take the appropriate action. So you have all actually experienced a trance many times, and have some idea already how it feels. It isn’t all that strange,or mysterious. In fact, hypnosis is the exact opposite....calm, relaxing, focused, and very pleasant. A few minutes of hypnosis feels like many hours of sleep!
How is a session like with Panney Wei?
A session with Panney Wei lasts an hour. We begin with about 40 minutes compassionate counseling, to help presenting issue and core issue and get the heart of the matter and the root of the question. Panney helps you identify solutions with a discussion to clarify your intentions and goals for your session with her. She offers strategies and gives you solutions with a compassionate heart and ear. You will then be carefully and slowly guided into a deeply relaxed state, focusing the entirety of the mind on your desired outcome. The last 10 minutes are geared entirely to hypnosis where Panney will make you a recording of the hypnosis so you can listen to it anytime. It takes about 21 days to break a bad habit or behavior, and about 21 days to create or reinforce a new, positive habit and new behavior. Each recording is especially catered to each client, and is instrumental to helping you move forward towards your goals and the most effective tool to use for permanent change. The ten minutes that you spend in hypnosis will greatly add to your happiness in life. Studies show that spending 10 minutes each day in silence, deep breathing, or meditation will give you a happier demeanor and more successful life.
Can I be hypnotized?
Anyone can be hypnotized. Yes, even you! Hypnosis is a relaxed brain wave state that everyone passes through every night before falling asleep and while waking up every morning. If you have trouble relaxing or focusing then hypnotherapy will help. Hypnosis is a state that we actually pass through several times a day. Consider whether you’ve ever had any of these experiences: missing a common exit on the freeway, driving yourself home and realizing that you didn’t remember the drive, or getting so involved in a movie or television program that you lost awareness of your environment. If you have, than you know what it is to be hypnotized. Panney has worked with people from all walks of life, and is the most common question is "Can everyone be hypnotized?" Yes, everyone can be hypnotized. There are some people who are more resistant to hypnosis but Panney is extremely proud of her track record that every client she has encountered has left her office experiencing the positive state of hypnosis.
